Today I have been thinking about kindness, mainly because it was mentioned at work and shown by someones acts and thoughts. It does not take much to be kind to others, perhaps a kind word, a kind thought or offer, or a kind gesture. It is the little things that perhaps are not talked about or known widely, apart from between two people or a small group. This fits in very nicely with some of the mental health cell work that I am linking into and kindness was mentioned there too. I am fortunate to have had a lot of kindness around me and recognise the importance that people place on this. It is what draws me to the donations of face mask adaptors that the national Facebook group are making and sending, because I am surrounded by like minded people who are happiest when they are doing something for someone else without any particular need for recompense or thanks.

I am naturally drawn to those people who think of others before themselves, look out for an item or do something that is particular to one person, which shows thought and kindness. It is going outside the box, shows a bit of thought and means so much to the recipient because they know the act or words were from the heart and not just automatic. I try to be a good role model for this myself, and whilst I don’t always get it right, I like to think of other peoples thoughts and feelings and look out for them, spotting if they are struggling or need a bit of support. In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
